It was in 1989 when Prudentialife
established a marketing event tradition
in Cebu City, the Annual Marketing
Convention and Sales Olympics aimed
to recognize its hard-driven sales people.
A year later, the marketing convention
delegates walked on the fine white sands
of Boracay Island as fitting sequel of what
has been started.
In the 1990's, Prudentialakbay
became the institutionalized name of all
the Annual Marketing Conventions and
Sales Olympics. As the name suggests,
Prudentialakbay was derived from
the company's name plus the words
"lakbay" and "akbay". Aptly, the name
"Prudentialakbay" signifies Prudentialife's
spirit of camaraderie.
In 1991 in Bacolod and Iloilo, the
annual Prudentialife marketing convention
and sales olympics already bore the name
"Prudentialakbay".
Prudentialife traveled to the
Northern part of the country in the 1992
Prudentialakbay visiting Pangasinan, La
Union and the Ilocos. As Prudentialife
turned 15 in 1993, the fourth
Prudentialakbay was held in Manila,
Pagsanjan and Puerto Azul.
In 1994, Sales Olympians and
delegates learned how to light a fire with
bamboo shavings and survive in the forest
during the Prudentialakbay in Subic.The
white beaches, cold breeze and coconut
trees welcomed the delegates of the 1995
Prudentialakbay as Prudentialife went back
to Boracay. The oldest and second largest
city in the Philippines, Cebu, was the
destination of the 1996 Prudentialakbay.
In 1997, around 1,000 delegates
drove up during the 8th Prudentialakbay
in Baguio. Prudentialakbay delegates once again enjoyed the clear beaches
and ecological attraction of Subic during
the 1998 Prudentialakbay. Prudentialife
went back to Cebu City for the 1999
Prudentialakbay. The city of Davao hosted
the first Prudentialakbay in Mindanao as
the new millennium began.
In 2001, Prudentialakbay was held
at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel where
Olympians and delegates performed
Broadway Musical Numbers. Prudentialife
marked a new beginning in 2002 as new
President Jose Alberto T. Alba formally
opened the convention during the 13th
Prudentialakbay in Boracay.
Prudentialakbay 2003 went beyond
its usual sales convention format
as Prudentialife celebrated its 25th
anniversary by making the Kapamilya
Spirit alive among 1,200 delegates at the
Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel.
In 2004, Prudentialakbay went back
to Baguio City to celebrate the company's
sincere spirit of kinship and honor the best
of its sales force.
After nine years, Prudentialife once
again visited the shores of Cebu to
celebrate the annual gathering of sales
champions during Prudentialakbay
2005.
The summer of 2006 drove the
Kapamilya to Boracay to enjoy the sun
and sand. The Champions also took time
to visit Akean.
Last year, Prudentialakbay was
held at Subic Bay, Olongapo City. The
participants had a great time enjoying
the attractions especially the Safari and
Ocean Adventure.
This year, Prudentialakbay travels
back to Manila to prepare for a grand
celebration of Prudentialife's 30
